The Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) is excited to announce that the Latin American Regional conference is coming soon this year! This will be the second regional conference in Latin American after the first one was successfully hosted in Cali, Colombia in 2016. The theme of this conference will be “Global changes, ecosystem services and multilateral agreement in Latin America and the Caribbean“.
Location: Campinas, Brasil
Date: 22-26 October 2018
Venue: Convention Center – State University of Campinas
Background:
The expansion of human caused negative changes on earth in a global scales, like climate change, ocean pollution, biodiversity loss and biodiversity distribution, composition and abundance. To solve this issue, the challenge now is to understand the dynamics of ecosystem services and human well-being as they interact from local to global scales in the context of multiple drivers of change. Therefore, holding this conference is the opportunity to bring a community of scientists, policy makers and civil society together and provide opportunities for them to interact. It is the possibility that allows them to hear about what others in their field and related disciplines are doing, talk with colleagues from different institutions around the world, and learn about new research, tools, techniques and from-the-field-practices that might be relevant to their work. The aim of the conference is to discuss what Latin America and the Caribbean are doing (or not) to reach the targets of the 4 major Multilateral Environment Agreements in the context of ecosystem services.
The Call for Abstracts is open until 4th July. Click here for a list of the sessions you can submit an abstract to.
The registration will open mid -May.
