Update from SWG 8A: Task Force on Agrobiodiversity (TFA)
Ecosystem services of crop wild relatives and landraces
Understanding the value of the provisioning services provided by plant genetic resources (PGR) is essential to inform the development of policy to support conservation actions. As part of the EC-funded project, Farmer’s Pride (www.farmerspride.org), which aims to establish a network of stakeholders and sites for in situ conservation and sustainable use of PGR in Europe, partners in the project are working to identify cost-effective strategies and policies to improve the PGR conservation and use system in the region and establishing a dialogue to communicate recommendations to policy-makers.

Biodiversity is not a problem, it’s a solution!
This is the main message of the First Brazilian Assessment on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, which reveals why conservation and sustainable use of the country’s environmental assets should be central, transversal and strategic elements – not apendices or obstacles – in the socioeconomic development of Brazil.
Launched on the 8th of November 2018, and signed by more than 100 scientists, the document is the most complete survey on the theme ever carried out in Brazil.
New book publication on indigenous people and local communities perspectives towards sustainability
We are glad to announce the recent publication of the book ‘Sustainable Development Land Sector Development in Northern Australia: Indigenous rights, aspirations and cultural responsibilities’.
