From October 9th to 13th, the International Center on Economic Policy (CINPE) from the National University of Costa Rica, in partnership with the Australian National University (ANU) and with collaboration of the Wetlands Project of Costa Rica, organized a the following events in order to have a discussion with different stakeholders (academia, government, NGO’s, and experts, among others) to propose new solutions on natural capital conservation:
Workshop: Future Scenarios of Ecosystem Services in Costa Rica
Objective: Create 4 development scenarios for Costa Rica, taking into consideration socio-economic and environmental variables, in order to visualize how ecosystems might change.
Workshop: Towards a new institutional framework for natural capital management in Costa Rica
Objective: Create the conceptual framework of a new financial mechanism and institutional arrangement in order to enhance natural capital management in Costa Rica
Conference: Case studies on economic valuation of wetlands”
Objective: Present national and international case studies on economic valuation of wetlands, in order to strengthen the discussion in Costa Rica on the importance of conducting these studies.
