The Natural Capital Project is pleased to invite you to The Natural Capital Symposium, 19-22 March 2018, Stanford, USA. The event is a major convening of leaders advancing the science and practice of incorporating nature’s diverse values into decisions. The event runs a full program of sessions from Monday-Wednesday. Thursday has a more flexible schedule, which includes working groups and additional training sessions. The full program is split across three simultaneous tracks: Pathways to Impact, New Frontiers, and Approaches & Applications. Attendees are encouraged to pick and choose which sessions they would like to attend, across all three tracks.
This event is a major convening of leaders advancing the science and practice of incorporating nature’s diverse values into decisions. Interactive sessions throughout the symposium will focus on five central themes: sustainable development planning, securing freshwater, fostering resilient coastal communities, developing sustainable cities, and creating standards for the private sector. The event will be joined by several exciting keynote speakers: Jane Lubchenco, University Distinguished Professor, Oregon State University, and former Administrator, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Harini Nagendra, Professor of Sustainability at Azim Premji University and author of the book “Nature in the City: Bengaluru in the Past, Present, and Future”, and returning keynote speaker, Mark Tercek, President and CEO of The Nature Conservancy (TNC), will be joined on Tuesday March 20 by Hugh Possingham, TNC’s Chief Scientist.
The NatCap Project is also pleased to announce a scholarship initiative to at least partially support the registration and travel costs for attendees from low-income countries or other circumstances where the costs of attending and/or traveling to the event present a barrier to their attendance.
