Erasmus course on ecosystem services (in Dutch)

The Erasmus+ course ‘Nature Benefits: From Theory to Practice’ (Natuurvoordelen: Van Theorie naar Praktijk) aims to help Dutch and Flemish professionals in the field of nature management and conservation communicate the value of nature areas. The course is co-organised by various ESP partners, and it consists of three modules, taking place between June and November 2024. Find more information in the course flyer (in Dutch). PhD position at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF)

The University of Eastern Finland is looking for a highly motivated and skilled PhD researcher to join the project The Nordic Borealization Network (NordBorN) funded by NordForsk’s University Cooperation call. The successful PhD applicant will work with multiple scale (from drones to satellite) remote sensing of shrub encroachment processes in tundra and treeline dynamics. The candidate is expected to have skills in remote sensing and machine learning. The position entails both office work and field work. The PhD researcher will be based at the Joensuu campus of the University of Eastern Finland, at the department of Geography and historicalstudies, and will work closely together with Timo Kumpula and Miguel Villoslada and other members of Digital Geosciences research group. Call for abstracts: 5th ESP Europe Conference

The 5th ESP Europe Conference will be held on 18-22 November 2024 in Wageningen, the Netherlands. The conference theme is ‘Ecosystem Services: One Planet, One Health’. As the conference theme suggests, we aim to highlight the relevance of the ecosystem services concept for solving global issues, driving transformative change and achieving a healthy planet.
The call for abstracts is currently open! Participants interested in presenting oral or poster presentations are invited to submit an abstract before 15 July 2024. All abstracts will undergo peer review by the session hosts.Please note that this conference will be an in-person conference in order to provide an enriching experience that allows attendees to fully immerse themselves in the conference, interact with speakers and engage with other participants in real-time.

ACES: The Community on Ecosystem Services
December 9-12, 2024 | Austin, Texas, USA

ACES represents a dynamic and growing international assembly of professionals, researchers, and policymakers involved with ecosystem services. The ACES Conference brings together this community providing an open forum to share experiences, methods, and tools for assessing and incorporating ecosystem services into public and private decisions. Participants will include individuals with interests in resource management, restoration, institutions, policy, government, business, academia, conservation, urban and non-urban development, and more!

The organizers have issued a Call for Session Proposals. Submissions are due April 5. Sessions will focus on a diverse range of topics including Investing in Ecosystem Services, Equity in Ecosystem Services, Resilience in Ecosystem Services, and a range of other themes relevant to ecosystem services.
