ESP Webinar: Participatory Community Monitoring of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in Latin America and the Caribbean

April 12, 2023 by Iskra Categories: News, Upcoming events

The third edition of the ESP Education & Training Webinar Series, organised by the Young Ecosystem Services Specialist Network – YESS, will be on the topic of Participative Community Monitoring of Biodiversity and Ecosystems Services in Latin America and the Caribbean. The session is planned as a space to share significant advances and experiences in participatory science exercises and self-managed monitoring of ecosystem, developed by rural communities, indigenous communities, African descendants, ethnic groups, etc., in which early-career researchers (ECRs) tend to be advisors and accompaniers.

The webinar will take place on 26 April 2023. The language for this webinar is Spanish. [Read more…] about ESP Webinar: Participatory Community Monitoring of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in Latin America and the Caribbean

A special issue of Forests

April 12, 2023 by Maria Rosaria Sessa Categories: Collaboration calls, News, Publications

The journal Forest is calling for contributions for a Special Issue (ISSN 1999-4907). The focus of this Special Issue will be on innovative frameworks supporting decision-making processes through integrated ecosystem services assessments and sustainable finance principles. The deadline for manuscript submissions is 31 October 2023.

Background:
The 15th Conference of the Parties (COP-15) was held in Montreal in December 2022 to discuss and prepare technical/operational guidelines and directives against biodiversity loss globally, with particular attention to urban environments. Particularly, it emerged clearly how the alignment of financial flows with nature could drive finances toward sustainable investments and away from environmentally harmful ones. Therefore, there is a need to support decision-making processes with accessible frameworks integrating economic-environmental aspects able to encourage nature-positive investments. Journal of the Bulgarian Geographical Society has been accepted for Scopus indexing

February 23, 2023 by Iskra Categories: News

In its 90 years in scholarly publishing (since 1933), the Journal of the Bulgarian Geographical Society (JBGS), became the oldest geographical journal in Bulgaria with more than 930 articles and 47 volumes. In 2023 JBGS celebrates the long-lasting history of the journal in the Bulgarian academic publication process, as well as its acceptance for Scopus indexing!

Earlier, in the last months of 2022, JBGS has been accepted for inclusion in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and ERIH+ indexing.

The Journal has international representation, as authors from Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Romania, and USA have already published their studies in JBGS. The Journal has already published a special issue “Natural heritage, ecosystem services and tourism” (Ed. Nedkov et al. 2021) about ecosystem services and their implementation with natural heritage.
