February 9, 2026 by Iskra Categories: News

In the lead up to the IPBES 12 Plenary in Manchester, the Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) and the Young Ecosystem Services Specialists (YESS) hosted a dedicated webinar to assist participants in their preparation.

For many early-career researchers, attending a prominent UN-style conference can be an intimidating experience. This session aimed to clarify how IPBES functions and what to anticipate within the negotiation rooms. [Read more…] about ESP-YESS Preparatory Webinar for IPBES 12

CREATE: Prioritising Nature-based Solutions to tackle eutrophication across freshwater–coastal–marine realms

CREATE (Cross-REalm modelling and assessment of Aquatic ecosystem services: Towards a science-based design of Nature-based solutions to tackle Eutrophication) is an EU-funded Water4All project coordinated by the University of Eastern Finland and involving partners from Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Poland. The project launched in March 2024, and is now heading towards its first year of activities, focused primarily on building the scientific and stakeholder foundations for prioritising nature-based solutions to tackle eutrophication across freshwater, coastal and marine realms.

Webinar: Strengthening ERC engagement within the IPBES

January 16, 2026 by Iskra Categories: News, Upcoming events

As we prepare our ESP&YESS delegation for the upcoming 12th IPBES Plenary in Manchester, we warmly invite you to a preparatory webinar designed to support youth participation. Whether you are new to IPBES work or an experienced delegate, this session will provide a valuable platform for exchange and for strengthening contributions to the international biodiversity and ecosystem services agenda.

The first part will include the overviews of IPBES officers, David González and Amarys Preuss, who will provide an introduction to the IPBES structure and how different stakeholders can contribute to IPBES work. The second half is tailored for young researchers and students, with Dr Carla Washbourne (ESP) and YESS members, Naomi Bi, and Nita Shashidharan sharing practical advice on navigating the plenary sessions and understanding key documents.

The ESP and YESS warmly invite you to join us on January 20 at 15:00 CET to learn, ask questions, and connect with our community before the main event.
