The Cost Action PESFOR-W (Payment for Ecosystem Services: Forest for Water) organises a training school on Analysis of the cost effectiveness of Woodlands for Water PES. The training school will take place on 6-8 October 2020 in Freiburg, Germany. The deadline for application is June 30th, 2020. The South-East Europe regional chapter of Ecosystem Services Partnership lately joined as a co-organiser of the International Geographic Conference “Geo Decade 2020-2030”. That news was published in the beginning of June with the second invitation for the conference.

Bonn – Efforts to combat global hunger and malnutrition are increasing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The recently published Global Report on Food Crises 2020, estimates that pre-COVID, 135 million people in 55 countries were facing acute hunger mainly due to conflict, the effects of climate change, and economic crises, according to the U.N. World Food Programme.
Yet, even before the pandemic shutdown began, more than 800,000 people worldwide did not get enough food to eat and about 2 billion people were experiencing malnutrition. The situation is becoming more severe, and U.N. projections indicate that global population will grow over the next 30 years from 7.7 billion to 9.7 billion adding more pressure to the food production system. The ReNature Nature-Based Solutions Webinar will present the different typologies of nature-based solutions and interventions, and evaluate their contributions to co-benefits to biodiversity and well-being. This webinar will take place on 26 June and will include sessions on the use of indicators to identify the most effective nature-based solutions that may be applied in different urban environments, the identification of the different typologies of nature-based solutions and an associated impact evaluation framework of urban nature-based solutions.
