New network of early-career researchers on ecosystem services and spatial planning within the Italian ESP National Network

March 27, 2024 by Iskra Categories: Collaboration calls, News

Members of the Italian ESP National Network, together with colleagues from several universities and research institutions, have recently established a network of early-career researchers dedicated to ecosystem services and spatial planning. The network serves as an informal transdisciplinary platform to connect the new generation of researchers working on the integration of ecosystem services in spatial planning and land management from different backgrounds and sectoral perspectives (urban planning, forestry, coastal management, …). The bottom-up initiative was kicked-off in June 2023 by thirteen postdocs and young researchers in a meeting in Bologna, followed by online meetings in November 2023 and February 2024. January 12, 2024 by Iskra Categories: Collaboration calls, News

As part of 35th International Geographical Congress, taking place in August 24-30, 2024, in Dublin, a session titled “Potentials of collective actions to landscape management and governance” is scheduled. We welcome you to contribute by submitting an abstract for an oral or poster presentation to this session, under the Commission on Land Use and Land Cover Change. Find more information about the call for abstracts here.

Join the SMILES COST Action

November 30, 2023 by Iskra Categories: Collaboration calls, News

The SMILES Action focuses on establishing a network of researchers and practitioners working on ecosystem services, land use change, natural capital assessment, nature-based solutions and governance within small and medium islands within Europe and its overseas territories. We look for early career investigators that are interested in joining this action, as well as people with expertise in marine ecosystem services and governance. Participants will be invited to contribute to collaborative research on island natural capital, ecosystem services, nature-based solutions and climate resilience, and benefit from the possibility of receiving travel funds dedicated to short term scientific missions. For more information see the website.

Second external review of the IPBES nexus assessment

November 30, 2023 by Iskra Categories: Collaboration calls, News

The second external review of the thematic assessment of the interlinkages among biodiversity, water, food and health (nexus assessment) is open from 20 November 2023 to 14 January 2024 (8 weeks).

The second external review, which focuses on the second draft of the chapters and the first draft of the summary for policymakers of the assessment, is one of the most important phases in the IPBES assessment process. The second external review is addressed to Governments and interested and qualified experts, including scientists, decision makers, practitioners and other knowledge holders. BIOTRAILS Learning Platform

November 30, 2023 by Iskra Categories: Collaboration calls, News

The BIOTRAILS Learning Platform has been developed as part of the BIOTRAILS Horizon Europe project which explores pathways towards transformative change for biodiversity. The learning platform acts as an online community and social learning space aiming to help support the fruitful collaboration and learning on challenges and opportunities for transformative change and the climate-biodiversity-society nexus within four value chains (for cocoa, aquaculture, gold and handicrafts) and beyond, through the project’s “Learning and Action Alliances” or LAAs. By joining the trans-project LAA, you will have the chance to: [Read more…] about BIOTRAILS Learning Platform
