The web section of the Special Issue on ‘ Certifying Environmental Social Responsibility ’ is finally online. This Special Issue aims to contribute to the emerging science on how to maintain and rehabilitate biodiversity and ecosystem services effectively in the tropics where agricultural expansion has shaped the landscapes. Updates from ESP Greek national network (HESP)
Our colleagues from the Hellenic ESP national network in Greece organised two workshops on ES implementation as an environmental management tool since the beginning of 2018. Next to this, members of HESP have authored a number of relevant publications. Keep reading for more information on the workshops and publications.
During the final conference of the ESMERALDA project last week in Brussels, Panayotis Dimopoulos as Greek MAES coordinator presented the progress in Greece regarding MAES which was well received. There is interest in the way Greece has progressed regarding ES and MAES, rising from a modest position on the ESMERALDA ES barometer into the top three of countries where there is progress. Regarding MAES in Greece, that is a component of a LIFE Integrated Project.

Global change effects on land management in the Mediterranean region
Members of the ESP Mediterranean biome working group contributed to a new publication on global change effects on land management in the Mediterranean region.
In this study, Žiga Malek and colleagues developed a future land use change scenario which demonstrates that sustainable development in the Mediterranean basin would allow for food security as well as the conservation and Mediterranean wetlands. You can access the full publication here.
