Urban Forest Ecosystem Services Postdoctoral Fellowship

Research Project: The US Forest Service (USFS) Pacific Southwest Research Station in Riverside California, USA is seeking a Post Doc Research Fellow to explore how urban forests and their ecosystem services and disservices affect human wellbeing, particularly in disadvantaged communities. To do this, the research fellow will use quantitative geospatial, statistical, or econometric techniques to analyze diverse environmental, economic, and socio-ecological data sets. This Fellow will be part of a transdisciplinary team of USFS researchers, environmental-based organizations, and local universities and governments from the Greater Los Angeles, CA area.

PhD position at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF)

The University of Eastern Finland is looking for a highly motivated and skilled PhD researcher to join the project The Nordic Borealization Network (NordBorN) funded by NordForsk’s University Cooperation call. The successful PhD applicant will work with multiple scale (from drones to satellite) remote sensing of shrub encroachment processes in tundra and treeline dynamics. The candidate is expected to have skills in remote sensing and machine learning. The position entails both office work and field work. The PhD researcher will be based at the Joensuu campus of the University of Eastern Finland, at the department of Geography and historicalstudies, and will work closely together with Timo Kumpula and Miguel Villoslada and other members of Digital Geosciences research group. Postdoc and PhD opportunities: Planning Resilient Landscapes

Are you interested in advancing the planning and implementation of sponge landscapes in Europe?

Leibniz University Hannover is calling for applications for a PostDoc and a PhD position in Planning Resilient Landscapes to conduct research on nature-based solutions to address floods, droughts, and biodiversity change within the EU Horizon Europe project SpongeWorks. SpongeWorks will advance the upscaling of ‘sponge measures’ as nature-based solutions to boost the natural water retention capacity in Europe.

The positions are supervised by Christian Albert within the Landscape Planning and Ecosystem Services working group at Leibniz University Hannover, Institute of Environmental Planning.
