New network of early-career researchers on ecosystem services and spatial planning within the Italian ESP National Network

March 27, 2024 by Iskra Categories: Collaboration calls, News

Members of the Italian ESP National Network, together with colleagues from several universities and research institutions, have recently established a network of early-career researchers dedicated to ecosystem services and spatial planning. The network serves as an informal transdisciplinary platform to connect the new generation of researchers working on the integration of ecosystem services in spatial planning and land management from different backgrounds and sectoral perspectives (urban planning, forestry, coastal management, …). The bottom-up initiative was kicked-off in June 2023 by thirteen postdocs and young researchers in a meeting in Bologna, followed by online meetings in November 2023 and February 2024. Bulgarian Community of Practice: In the search for seeds of change

February 27, 2024 by Iskra Categories: News

27 participants from diverse sectors, including business (denkstatt, Coca-Cola HBC), academia (Sofia University, Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research), government (Sofia Municipality, Executive Environment Agency, Executive Forests Agency, Central Balkan National Park, Bulgarian National Focal Point of IPBES), and civil society, gathered on January 19, 2023, in Sofia, Bulgaria, to lay the foundation for the SELINA Community of Practice (CoP) in Bulgaria. The event, organized by the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography (NIGGG-BAS), a key partner in SELINA, aimed to establish a collaborative platform for achieving transformative change.

The meeting kicked off with an introduction to the SELINA project, followed by a comprehensive exploration of the CoP concept, encompassing its terms, goals, and potential achievements. The discussion emphasized the inclusion of new members with a shared objective of contributing to transformative change.
