Registration for ESP conferences in 2018 now open

Registration is open for the Ecosystem Services Partnership 2018 regional conferences.

ESP is organising three conferences in October 2018 focusing on the use of the ecosystem services concept in science, policy and practice to find ‘nature based solutions’ for conservation, restoration and sustainable development issues in Asia (India 9-12 October, including a keynote by Pavan Sukhdev), Europe (Spain, 14-19 Oct, for which almost 500 abstracts have been submitted!), and Latin America (Brazil, 22-25 October).

Together with ACES ESP is organising a conference  in N.America, Washington, USA, 3-7 December.

Vacancy: Senior Researcher in ecosystem Services and nature-based solutions

The MCAST is seeking to recruit a Senior Researcher for the project ReNature, which is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme. The COST Action Payments for Ecosystem Services (Forest for water) is organising its first training school on the topic: Environmental effectiveness of forest PES schemes to reduce agricultural diffuse pollution to water. The deadline for application is 15 August 2018, travel and subsistence grants of up to 800 Euros will be available for around 18 participants. Updates from ESP Greek national network (HESP)

Our colleagues from the Hellenic ESP national network in Greece organised two workshops on ES implementation as an environmental management tool since the beginning of 2018. Next to this, members of HESP have authored a number of relevant publications. Keep reading for more information on the workshops and publications.

During the final conference of the ESMERALDA project last week in Brussels, Panayotis Dimopoulos as Greek MAES coordinator presented the progress in Greece regarding MAES which was well received. There is interest in the way Greece has progressed regarding ES and MAES, rising from a modest position on the ESMERALDA ES barometer into the top three of countries where there is progress. Regarding MAES in Greece, that is a component of a LIFE Integrated Project.
