ESP connects over 3000 ecosystem services scientists, policy makers and practitioners who work together in more than 40 Working Groups and a growing number of National Networks on all continents. ESP regularly organises World and Regional conferences and provides many Services to further enhance the application of ecosystem services for nature conservation, ecosystem restoration and sustainable management. The next 24th Annual Conference, Actions for a Sustainable World: from theory to practice of the International Sustainable Development Research Society (ISDRS 2018) will be held on June 13-15 in Messina, Italy.

The IPBES secretariat would like to thank those Governments who submitted their proposals to nominate experts to the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel. To date, the secretariat has received 35 proposals, including 10 from African States, 3 from Asia-Pacific States, 4 from Eastern European States, 5 from Latin American and Caribbean States, and 13 from Western European and Other States. In trying to promote the importance of conserving genetic material of the wild relatives of crop species using an ecosystem services approach, some members of the Task Force on Agrobiodiversity have recently published a policy brief on “incorporating Crop Wild Relatives into the Ecosystem Services Framework”. The Task Force is working on other means of promoting the ecosystem services value of crop wild relative taxa.
