In July 2016, the Natural Capital Coalition released the Natural Capital Protocol, the first globally standardized framework for identifying, measuring and valuing natural capital in business. More recently, and in order to connect business with the tools they need to make better decisions, the World Business Council For Sustainable Development developed a Natural Capital Protocol Toolkit.
ESP connects over 3000 ecosystem services scientists, policy makers and practitioners who work together in more than 40 Working Groups and a growing number of National Networks on all continents. ESP regularly organises World and Regional conferences and provides many Services to further enhance the application of ecosystem services for nature conservation, ecosystem restoration and sustainable management. Tropical forests Biodiversity sourcebook: online
The sourcebook aims to inform which data and methods can be applied to monitor some relevant Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBV) that supports the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD) efforts to halt biodiversity loss. The EBV concept proposed by the GEO BON, Space Agencies, and the Earth Observation research community at large aims to support efforts for biodiversity monitoring.
