Several members of the Mediterranean Biome working group participated in the different sessions of the International Conference of Ecological Sciences celebrated in Marseille on the 25th – 28th of October. The conference also gave us the opportunity to meet Virginie Baldy, one of the chairs of the BIODIVMEX network project.
ESP connects over 3000 ecosystem services scientists, policy makers and practitioners who work together in more than 40 Working Groups and a growing number of National Networks on all continents. ESP regularly organises World and Regional conferences and provides many Services to further enhance the application of ecosystem services for nature conservation, ecosystem restoration and sustainable management. The international journal Science of the Total Environment is accepting submissions for a special issue on mapping the environment. The aim of this special issue is to publish works that improve our capacity to map all aspects of the environment and find the interdependences and causes of the spatial distribution of the modeled variables. As a novel approach it tries to link all the environmental aspects, for a better understanding of natural and human dimensions of the landscape.

The 12th International Congress of Ecology ( INTECOL 2017 Beijing) organized by INTECOL will be held in Beijing, August 20-25, 2017. Online registration system is opened now, as well as abstract submission. Symposia Proposal submission is also still acceptable.
The Horizon 2020 project ESMERALDA released its third newsletter. In this issue you can read about the project activities of the last six months.
