A revised version of the interactive Toolkit for Ecosystem Service Site-based Assessment (TESSA) is now available online.
TESSA, developed by a consortium and with input from over 150 experts, provides guidance and methods to value ecosystem services currently provided by sites compared to their likely provision under different management decisions, thus allowing the consequences of alternative management decisions to be assessed. It promotes the collection of locally-relevant field data and the combination of qualitative and quantitative data analysis. IPBES has extended the nomination period for members of the review panel to perform the external review of IPBES. The network also announced a call for nominations for a member of the Committee on Conflict of Interest from the Western Europe and Others Group (WEOG). Call for nominations for members of the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel (MEP) is still ongoing. Deadlines for these three calls is 2 February 2018.

The course is organized by LANDSCAPE EUROPE Network and is linked with the PECSRL2018 conference in Clermont-Ferrand and Mende (3-9 September 2018), where described sessions (See an Attachment) will be organized.
Towards testing and implementing ESMERALDA’s flexible methodology
For nearly two and a half years to date, the Horizon2020-funded EU project ESMERALDA has been working hard towards the development of a flexible methodology in support of pan-European and regional Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystem Services (MAES).
From 2 to 5 October, in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, the ESMERALDA project met with key stakeholders from the EU member states, the European Commission and Science-Policy-Society Advisory Board members to present a final version of its ecosystem services mapping and assessment methodology, and collect feedback and ideas for improvements and implementation.
