Call for participation: Survey on the role of researchers in transformative change

March 26, 2025 by Iskra Categories: Collaboration calls, News

After the successful launch during the last ESP conference in Wageningen, the YESS survey on the role of researchers in transformative change will close soon! Therefore we wish to bring it again to the attention of the ESP community inviting its members to participate, while thanking all those who participated already!

Are you a researcher working in academic fields related to biodiversity, ecosystem services, or sustainability?

Then this is an invitation to take a moment to reflect upon your role in fostering transformative change. [Read more…] about Call for participation: Survey on the role of researchers in transformative change

ESP India national network with new lead team

March 26, 2025 by Iskra Categories: Collaboration calls, News

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kiran Kumar T. M. and Dr. Suvangi Rath have joined the lead team of the ESP India national network. Below a message from the new lead team.

Hello Researchers,

Ecosystem services represent a ground-breaking revolution in global research, aimed at ensuring the sustainability of our environment and the preservation of biodiversity. The Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) has played a pivotal role in uniting researchers from around the world on a shared platform to develop and implement solutions for protecting natural capital. We are honoured to join the ESP team and take on the responsibility of leading the India national network. Our work mainly aims to estimate the economic value of ecosystem services in India, assess the impact of agricultural land use change on ecosystem services, and finally assess economic value, trade-offs, and farmers’ willingness to accept incentives for the adoption of improved farm practices. We warmly invite collaboration with scientists and academicians, both within India and internationally, to advance our research efforts. Co-Bio News: Living with pollinators: Their essential role and how to attract them to our gardens

March 19, 2025 by Veronika Kiss Categories: News

With spring approaching, gardens and green spaces are slowly coming to life, offering the perfect opportunity to observe pollinators and create a welcoming habitat for them. The “Wekerle, természetesen!” (Wekerle, naturally!) event series continued with a session titled “Pollinators Are Our Friends”, focusing on the essential role of pollinators in our ecosystems and how to support them in urban gardens.

Guest speaker Dóra Kapisinszky, school beekeeper and garden designer, shared valuable insights on the different types of pollinators and the essential role they play in ecosystems. She highlighted the importance of overcoming fears and misconceptions about insects, learning how to coexist with them, and reacting appropriately to their presence. Partner Meeting in Vienna – Exchange, Learning, and Collaboration

March 19, 2025 by Veronika Kiss Categories: News

Between February 25 and 27, 2025, the Co-Bio project partners gathered in Vienna for a three-day exchange visit, bringing together participants from local case studies across Europe. The aim of the meeting was to exchange and learn from each other, share best practices, and provide valuable feedback for the finalisation of the project’s prototype guideline.

The visit began with presentations and discussions on local case studies, followed by reflections on public value and the role of biodiversity initiatives in urban spaces. Finishing the first day with a tour of the University of Vienna’s Main Campus offered insights into local biodiversity initiatives, including the installation of bird and bat nesting boxes and the ecological management of green spaces. Meet the IPBES Nature Futures Framework for scenarios and planning | ESP World Conference webinar

March 19, 2025 by YESS admin Categories: News, Upcoming events

Organised jointly by the Young ES Specialists (YESS), the Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP), and the IPBES Task Force on Scenarios and Models.

Webinar: Future scenario analysis and planning of biodiversity and ecosystem services by using the Nature Futures Framework from local to national scales

Poster for the event described on this pageDate: 21 March 2025, 10:00 CET / 18:00 JST

The Nature Futures Framework (NFF) is a flexible tool designed to support the development of scenarios and models of desirable futures for people, nature and Mother Earth. Following the 2016 Scenarios and models assessment, the IPBES scenarios and models expert group developed this framework. The NFF has since been applied to diverse research questions in equally diverse locations. This webinar is a preview of the session T6 a ESP 11 World Conference and part of the project “Development of an Integrated Assessment Model linking Biodiversity and Socio-Economic Drivers, and its Social Application” (IAM-B).
