A workshop on “Pro-active management of forests to combat climate change driven risks: Policies and measures for increasing forest resilience and climate change adaptation” was organized by Forest Europe and Turkish General Directorate of Forest in Istanbul (Turkey) on 3-4 September 2019. The main topics were: Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) in terms of climate change, Policies and governance needed to implement adaptation, risk prevention and disturbance management, Countries´ experience in implementation of adaptation measures to prevent and mitigate natural hazards. Urban Ecosystem Services are being mapped in Ankara

Nature Conservation Centre (Doğa Koruma Merkezi; DKM) is a foundation established in 2004 in Turkey. DKM is a member of ESP and throughout its work, DKM uses conservation science to deliver conservation solutions which are comprehensive and innovative. One of topics on which DKM in specializes is the ecosystem services, especially mapping ecosystem services. One of the main objectives of DKM is to share and disseminate spatial information on ecosystem services to different sectors and to bring into the agenda of spatial planning. Soil quality indicators – From soil functions to ecosystem services

The recently published article “Soil quality indicators – From soil functions to ecosystem services” shows how a soil quality index based on ecosystem services (ES) and soil functions was developed by coupling 10 soil functions with 16 ES. This ES-based soil quality index emphasizes the multi-functionality of soils and illustrates an effective trade-off assessment together with considerations of various stakeholder interests.
