ESEE conference 2017 Budapest

The next biannual conference of the European Society for Ecological Economics will be organized in Budapest, in June 2017. Various conference topics are related to ecosystem services, including “Imitating and learning from nature”, “Ecosystem services: complexity, financialization, trade-offs, valuation”, “Natural resource management”, or “Biodiversity and ecosystem services in the policy arena”. Call for Student Volunteers ACES 2016

The ACES 2016 Conference will take place December 5-9 2016. ACES 2016 is now recruiting student volunteers for various supporting roles including AV Operators, Moderator Assistants and Registration Assistants. Volunteers must be currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a subject area applicable to Ecosystem Services.

Free Online Course – Food and Our Future: Sustainable Food Systems in Southeast Asia

Stockholm Environment Institute, International Resource Panel (IRP) and the 10YFP Programme on Sustainable Food Systems are launching the Massive Open Online course “Food and Our Future: Sustainable Food Systems in Southeast Asia”. The course will take place from 8 August to 11 September.

Based on the IRP’s report Food Systems and Natural Resources and other sources, this MOOC will provide latest scientific information to help audiences understand:

  • The value of using a food systems approach for improved management of natural resources in Southeast Asia
  • Complex dynamics within food system activities, actors and outcomes in Southeast Asia and their implications for natural resource use
  • Policy and biophysical options in the region to move towards more resource smart food systems

The workshop Assessment and Economic Valuation of Recreational Ecosystem Services (RES) of Landscapes in EU Member States will take place at Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany, on September 12-13, 2016. 2017 Natural Capital Symposium

The Natural Capital Project invites you to join the 2017 Natural Capital Symposium at Stanford University from March 20-23, 2017. Featuring keynote speakers Carter Roberts, President and CEO of World Wildlife Fund, and Mark Tercek, President and CEO of The Nature Conservancy, this event is a major convening of leaders advancing the science and practice of incorporating nature’s diverse values into decisions. Interactive sessions throughout the symposium will focus on five central themes: sustainable development planning, securing freshwater, fostering resilient coastal communities, developing sustainable cities, and creating standards for the private sector.
