Call for requests, input and suggestions for the next work programme of IPBES

IPBES is currently in the process of developing its next work programme, following the process set out in decision IPBES-6/2 (see here).

This is a reminder that IPBES members, observers, multilateral environmental agreements, United Nations bodies and relevant stakeholders as well as experts on, and holders of, indigenous and local knowledge are invited to provide requests, inputs and suggestions, respectively, on short term priorities and longer term strategic needs for the future work programme of IPBES by 30 September 2018 (please find the call issued on 11 July 2018, with link to template for response here). How are we assessing the future of Mediterranean forests? New publication by members of the ESP Mediterranean working group

In this new study, Alejandra Morán-Ordóñez, José V. Roces-Díaz, Lluís Brotons (members of the ESP Mediterranean working group) and colleagues, reviewed the available literature on the use of ecological models to predict global change environmental impacts, to answer the following questions: (1) what are the modelling approaches most commonly used to predict the condition and trends of biodiversity and ecosystem services under future scenarios of global change? (2) what are the drivers of change considered in future scenarios and at what scales? (3) what are the biodiversity/nature and ecosystem services indicators most commonly evaluated? Vacancy: Scientific staff member at the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment

The Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) is looking for a scietific staff member to work on developing and integrating a package of spatial (dynamic) models in order to gain an insight into the benefits of various ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, water storage, pollination or recreation, and will apply these models in the urban and rural setting.
