Worldwide network to enhance the science, policy and practice of ecosystem services for conservation and sustainable development
ESP connects over 3000 ecosystem services scientists, policy makers and practitioners who work together in more than 40 Working Groups and a growing number of National Networks on all continents. ESP regularly organises World and Regional conferences and provides many Services to further enhance the application of ecosystem services for nature conservation, ecosystem restoration and sustainable management. The course is organized by LANDSCAPE EUROPE Network and is linked with the PECSRL2018 conference in Clermont-Ferrand and Mende (3-9 September 2018), where described sessions (See an Attachment) will be organized.

Towards testing and implementing ESMERALDA’s flexible methodology
For nearly two and a half years to date, the Horizon2020-funded EU project ESMERALDA has been working hard towards the development of a flexible methodology in support of pan-European and regional Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystem Services (MAES).
From 2 to 5 October, in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, the ESMERALDA project met with key stakeholders from the EU member states, the European Commission and Science-Policy-Society Advisory Board members to present a final version of its ecosystem services mapping and assessment methodology, and collect feedback and ideas for improvements and implementation. We would like to inform you that a public online consultation on an EU Pollinators Initiative has been launched. It will remain open for feedback until 5 April 2018. The survey can be accessed via the European Commission’s public consultation page. It is available in 23 EU languages.
The following position is available at the Professorship of Ecological Services (PES), University of Bayreuth: Post-Doc position (100 % A13Z) for 3+3 years or PhD position (50 % A13Z) for 3 years to conduct research on land use change and its impact on ecosystem services. We are looking for candidates to develop spatial models of land use and ecosystem services in regional human-environment systems.
