“Nature for Peace” Forum highlights the attention to local stakeholders

May 26, 2022 by ESP Asia Regional Office Categories: ESP Asia Regional Office, News

SEOUL, May 4 — Representatives of scientists from China, Germany, India, the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, and Viet Nam taking part in a “Nature for Peace” forum on Friday highlighted the importance of giving attention to local stakeholders in transboundary ecosystem conservation.

Riverine and Wetlands-Water Security are compromised due to diverse drivers and increasing drivers affecting ecosystem resilience and climate regulation potential. Combination, cooperation, and intervention at different levels should be mostly on the landscape internet to enhance improvement and conservation of transboundary cases, said Shalini Dhyani, CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), during her report titled “Nature-based Solutions for Transboundary Ecosystem Conservation between the areas bordering India, Nepal, and China.” [Read more…] about “Nature for Peace” Forum highlights the attention to local stakeholders

Call for Papers: Special Issue on Ecosystem Services in Asia in the journal Ecosystem Services

March 18, 2020 by Categories: Collaboration calls, ESP Asia Regional Office, News, Publications

Title: Ecosystem Services Science, Policy and Practice in Asia: examples of applications in planning, management and decision making

Responding to calls from Asian researchers and practitioners during various ESP-conferences on ecosystem services (a.o. the ESP-Asia Forum during the 10th ESP World Conference, Oct. 2019), this special issue aims to provide examples of relevant contributions to ecosystem-based policy-making, to find innovative solutions from case studies, and to stimulate future research activities on actualization of ES approaches in Asia. A quick guide to implementing ES approaches for policy makers

January 22, 2020 by Categories: ESP Asia Regional Office, News, Publications

In collaboration with ESP Asia Regional Office, National Institute of Ecology(NIE) Korea published a quick guide for policy makers who are interested in implementing ecosystem services approaches for nature conservation.

This guide provides key points of ES concepts, presents policy cases with practical examples and encourages public officers to further develop ES strategies to maintain ecosystem benefits our nature delivers. It is also a helpful starting point to develop your own regional guide to formulate ES approaches and to engage more people in developing nature-based solutions. A Special Issue of Ecosystem Services (Elsevier) by 2020 ESP Asia Conference

July 18, 2019 by Categories: Collaboration calls, ESP Asia Regional Office, News, Publications, Upcoming events

ESP Asia Office starts preparing the special issue of Ecosystem Services to compile research outcomes of ES professionals in Asia.

This idea was brought up last year during 2018 ESP Asia Conference in India and our Asian partners stressed the importance of compiling research outcomes and ES policy practices in Asian countries. This initiative will also contribute to engaging interdisciplinary researchers into adopting ecosystem services approach and supporting collaboration of ES researchers in  Asia.

The tentative title of this special issue is “Ecosystem services approach : policy and practice in Asia”. [Read more…] about A Special Issue of Ecosystem Services (Elsevier) by 2020 ESP Asia Conference
