Sectoral Working Group 5 – ES in Water Management has released a Special Issue in Environmental Management on Incorporating Ecosystem Services into Water Resources Management. Most articles are open access and available here. Interesting for all those working on water management and ecosystem services (or green infrastructure, or nature-based solutions). Restoration Project Information Sharing Framework
In 2021 the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) and Climate Focus, on behalf of the Global Restoration Observatory (GRO) network co-led a collaborative effort to formalize a sector-wide Restoration Project Information Sharing Framework. The Framework is designed to support more coordinated global tracking of progress and trends in ecosystem restoration. Through the use of shared variables, the Framework will facilitate the coordination and sharing of project information to support global restoration monitoring while also improving restoration practice.
On 29 March 2o22 a virtual session will take place that will introduce the Restoration Project Information Sharing Framework and explore how to adopt relevant and appropriate content from the Framework for individual monitoring protocols, reporting systems, databases, and platforms. Register here.
First participatory workshop on the NatGuidES project – Identification, assessment and mapping of ecosystem services in valuable nature conservation areas in Slovenia
As part of the NatGuidES project a participatory workshop on mapping ecosystem services was held in Slovenia on 8 March 2022.
The main aim of the NatGuidES project is to establish a protocol for the identification and mapping of ES in valuable nature conservation areas in Slovenia. Special issue on Natural heritage, ecosystem services and tourism in the Journal of the Bulgarian Geographical Society (JBGS)
This special issue of JBGS contains ten papers presenting innovative approaches for the development of recreational industries in Bulgaria and methodological and practical solutions concerning the application of the ecosystem approach to develop green, nature-based and sustainable tourism. All papers demonstrate current achievements of the researchers from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” as a result of their work on a research project “Conceptualization, flexible methodology and a pilot geospatial platform for access of the Bulgarian natural heritage to the European digital single market of knowledge and information services”. The Convention on Wetlands released the Global Wetland Outlook Special Edition: 2021.
As an update to the 2018 Global Wetland Outlook, this special edition on the occurrence of the Convention’s 50th anniversary presents new findings on the status and value of wetlands globally, particularly in the context of the global pandemic, climate and biodiversity crises and broader global shifts.
