PhD vacancy: Exploring opportunities for ecosystem service economies on the Indigenous estate
Charles Darwin University‘s (CDU) Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods (RIEL) is seeking applications for a PhD project, based in Darwin, to assess the value of ecosystem services (ES) from native forests for the Indigenous peoples in East Arnhem Land, NT.
About the Opportunity
The proposed project will aim to assess the value of ES from native forests for the Indigenous peoples in East Arnhem Land, NT. The project will evaluate the benefits of forestry-related economic opportunities including job creation, the opportunity to work and learn on-country, enhanced well-being, etc. Estimating the value of Indigenous provenance timber and non-timber products and other ES will help to establish an emerging Indigenous forestry market sector, in line with the National Indigenous Forestry Strategy (2005). Postdoctoral position open at the University of Trento (Italy)
The Planning for Ecosystem Services and Urban Sustainability lab (PLANES) at the University of Trento seeks an enthusiastic postdoc researcher interested in spatial planning and ecosystem services.
The accepted candidate will work on the following topics:
- Design frameworks for mapping and assessing ecosystem services (by identifying methods, indicators, data, etc.) in various contexts and sectors
- Perform spatial analysis and assessment of ecosystem services in urban areas, also to propose and site nature-based solutions.
- Analyze the framework of spatial planning and policies in the EU, identifying opportunities, risks and possible strategies and tools to promote the integration of biodiversity values and ecosystem services and support the Biodiversity Strategy 2030 targets.

Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Ecological and Ecosystem Economics. Based in Edinburgh this post will contribute to teaching on the longest running MSc programme in Ecological Economics (delivered in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh).
