Natural Assets Register – Input about similar initiatives wanted
The James Hutton Institute and SRUC are currently developing a Natural Assets Register for Scotland as part of the Scottish Government’s Strategic Research Programme, 2016-21. The Natural Assets Register will:
- be spatially based;
- include existing published environmental data;
- include data and modelling outputs from the research programme and elsewhere;
- assess the condition of the assets and their role in providing ecosystem service benefits; and
- inform the development of natural capital accounts.

ESMERALDA workshop on methods and integrated assessments – output
With the aim of supporting EU countries in the Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystems and their Services (MAES) process, ESMERALDA held a dedicated workshop to look at and discuss existing methods and how they could be used as part of an integrated assessment. The workshop, which took place from 14 to 16 April 2016 in Nottingham, UK, brought together 51 representatives from countries across Europe, including all ESMERALDA partners, together with potential new consortium members.
