Call for Sessions open for ESP Latin America and Caribbean 2020 Conference

The 3rd ESP LAC Conference will take place on 25-27 November 2020 in Mexico City, Mexico under the theme Transcending the study of Ecosystem Services towards Transdiscipline and Incidence.

This conference calls on scientists, professionals, local stakeholders, NGOs, civil society and decision-makers in the region to share existing knowledge about ecosystem services, as well as transdisciplinary tools and experiences that can effectively influence sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Call for sessions: 3rd ESP Europe Conference 2020

The 3rd European Ecosystem Services Partnership Conference will take place in Tartu, Estonia on 21-24 September 2020. Call for sessions is now OPEN!

We would like to call on the ecosystem services community at large, and ESP members especially, to submit a session proposal for our upcoming conference. The deadline for session submission is 1 March 2020. Check the call for sessions page for more information and to submit your proposal.

ESP10 participants collect voluntary contributions towards peatland rewetting

Participants of the 10th ESP World Conference donated €1240 in voluntarily greenhouse gas emission compensation. The donation goes towards peatland rewetting in the MoorFutures project Gelliner Bruch and will be used to offset 31 tonnes of CO2.

MoorFutures® were introduced in Germany as the first carbon credits from peatland rewetting. MoorFutures have been developed in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and follow the regional MoorFutures standard. The MoorFutures criteria are clearly defined, scientifically validated, transparent, and are based on the principles of the Verified Carbon Standard and the Kyoto Protocol. ESP10 conference welcomes over 750 participants from 65+ countries

The 10th ESP World Conference took place between 21-25 October in Hannover, Germany and we are happy to report that it was a great success!

With more than 750 participants from over 65 countries, ESP10 was the biggest ESP conference yet, with the widest international outreach. The conference program featured impactful keynote speaches and panel discussions, sessions on diverse topics, a poster session, business day and market place, the brand new ‘ES in Practice’ competition, a documentary screening and multiple excursions.

The conference set a great example by having majority of keynote speakers and session hosts be female, child daycare was available, all the food was organic, local, and vegetarian and the participants collected over 1200 euro in donations to a carbon offset project – Moor Futures. 10th World Conference of Ecosystem Services Partnership at Leibniz University Hannover

750 participants from around the world are expected to attend
Clean water, fresh air, insects pollinating crops so that fruit and vegetables can grow – nature provides many things that are indispensable for our lives. The term “ecosystem services” refers to essential goods and non-material benefits that humans gain from nature. This topic is the focal point of an international specialist conference that will take place between Monday 21 October and Friday 25 October 2019. For the first time, the event will be held at Leibniz University Hannover (LUH). The 10th World Conference of Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) will be guided by the motto “10 years advancing ecosystem services science, policy and practice for a sustainable future”.
